Windows 10 support ends on October 14 2025
Microsoft support for Windows 10 officially ends on October 14, 2025, meaning it will no longer receive free security updates, feature updates, or technical assistance. After this date, PCs running Windows 10 will continue to function but will become more vulnerable to viruses and malware without new security patches. To stay secure, you can upgrade to Windows 11 if your PC is eligible, or purchase a new device.
What happens after October 14, 2025?
- No more free security updates: Windows 10 will not receive crucial patches to protect against new viruses and malware.
- No new features: You will not get new software or feature updates for Windows 10.
- No technical support: Microsoft will no longer provide technical assistance for Windows 10.
- Your PC will still work, but with increased risk: Your Windows 10 computer will continue to operate, but the lack of security updates will make it less secure over time.
Office software support
On October 14, 2025, support for non-subscription versions of Office will be affected in two ways:
- Support for Office 2016 and Office 2019 will end, across all operating systems.
- Office 2024 and Office 2021 (including Office LTSC versions) will continue to run on Windows 10 but will no longer be supported.
