Most routers come with a password already setup but this can be easily changed to something easy for you to remember

Ethernet is the best connection option to use if at all possible
Its a lot faster and easier for transferring files
But with so many devices like ipads etc it normally is not enough by itself

You can use a mobile internet device so you have internet as you travel around but it can be expensive for a little amount of useage
These come in a USB dongle or an independant wireless device
You can also use your mobile phone to give out a wireless hotspot but be careful for extra charges if you get charged by the MB for extra data useage
