When Windows 7 reaches its End of Life phase on January 14, 2020,
Microsoft will stop releasing updates and patches for the operating
system. It’s likely that it also won’t offer help and support if you
encounter any problems.
However, that doesn’t mean Windows 7 will
stop working on January 14 2020 – you’ll still be able to use Windows 7
for as long as you want. So the good news is that you’re not going to
wake up on January 15 to find your Windows 7 PC no longer boots up.
But just because you can continue to use Windows 7 in its End of Life status, it doesn’t mean you should.
The
biggest issue with continuing to use Windows 7 is that it won’t be
patched for any new viruses or security problems once it enters End of
Life, and this leaves you extremely vulnerable to any emerging threats.
What’s
more, if a large number of people continue to use Windows 7 after the
End of Life date, that could actually be a big incentive for malicious
users to target viruses and other nasties at WIndows 7.
So, while
Windows 7 will continue to work after January 14 2020, you should start
planning to upgrade to Windows 10, or an alternative operating system,
as soon as possible.
I finally gave in and decided to get the NBN connected as I knew it was only a matter of time before I’d have to do so Big mistake we’ve had problems from the day it was installed Now on our 4th Router and working fine But it’s a Gen 1 router not the Gen 2 with 4G backup that didn’t work properly

Do not give them access to your computer remotely
Close the Browser window using whichever method is necessary, as it cannot escape the browser unless you download something from the page.
If you cannot close the browser window, right click the Task Bar or press Ctrl + Alt + Delete keys to open the Task Manager, choose Show Less Details, highlight the browser and choose End Task.
If this fails hold the power button to Shut Down. If you do this Edge may reload the page when it starts back up, but it will also give you an option to Start Fresh to avoid opening the previous tabs.
Also in Edge, if you try to X out of the browser WIndow, it may present a dialogue box to end the session. The webpage is allowed to put text in the box but cannot stop it from closing the WIndows when you choose OK, so that is safe to do.
If you called the scammers and they installed anything on your PC, open Settings>Apps, organize by Date, uninstall anything on that date you didn’t install yourself.
Then run a full scan with Malwarebytes
If you paid them anything, notify your bank that you were scammed.

The rollout of the Windows 10 October 2018 Update (version 1809)* has been paused for all users as we investigate isolated reports of users missing some files after updating
The missing files after upgrading bug is perhaps the biggest and most
serious problem found in this new version, and it was so significant
that even forced Microsoft to stop the rollout.
Thankfully, the problem now has been fixed, and the October 2018 Update should no longer delete files after the upgrade.
The only caveat is that the fixes will not recover your files. If you upgraded to the October 2018 Update before the fixes were available and your files were deleted, you’ll need to contact the company directly. Although the Microsoft support team will help you recover your files, the company will not guarantee that you’ll get some or all of your files.
I did this update on day one and have not had any problems myself
But always best to be safe which Microsoft have done
If you’ve all ready done the update fixes are being rolled out in updates and a new release of this version of windows 10 will be out soon
This update will be coming soon in windows update so you don’t need to do anything at all Below are some of the new features
Cloud Clipboard and Clipboard history
If you are using multiple
Microsoft devices, this feature is for you. Windows 10 Version 1809 will come

account. Sync across devices feature is not enabled until you sign in to a
Microsoft account. You can do so by following the steps below:

Dark mode is all the rage now a

introducing dark mode in their feature set. Dark mode is the inverted mode
where foreground colour become lighter and background colour becomes darker.
This helps in saving eyes from damage especially when working at night.
Microsoft has introduced dark
mode for Windows apps especially File Explorer. To enable dark mode, follow the
steps below:
Go to Settings
Go to Personalization
Go to Colours
Under Choose your default
app mode, select Dark.

SwiftKey keyboard
Microsoft has improved on its
virtual keyboard which is an accessibility feature in Windows. SwiftKey
keyboard is like real keyboard and it can be used on touch enabled devices.
After this improvement, people may find it easier to take tablets without a
physical keyboard instead of laptops which have a physical keyboard, especially
useful when you are travelling.

Google
also introduced an app for sending SMS from the computer instead of the Android
phone but this requires active Internet connection to work.
The government should be doing more to attempt to stop these cold callers preying on the vulnerable
If you here a gap from when you pick up the phone it’s a call centre so hang up…
If you do let them onto your computer but realise something is not right pull the plug from your router which will cut the internet connection and force them off
I’m always available so if in doubt email or text me 24 hours a day or ring me between 8.00am and 8.00pm
